Three of the bigger UK supermarkets have reduced the cost of petrol, as a means of trying to help consumers who may be struggling with increased fuel costs, surging inflation and the credit crunch.
Asda said yesterday that it would cut prices at the pump by as much as three pence per litre. It said the move had been made possible by recent falls in global oil prices. As such, the group expressed its commitment to passing on these savings to consumers. Hungarian Housing Market Hit Less Hard by Credit Crunch
I see that our familiar old economy has seduced people and tempted them away from their passions. Now, as confidence in the system dwindles, people are questioning the Faustian bargains they’ve made. Advice for Shopping on a Budget in the Credit Crunch
With words like ‘Credit Crunch’ and ‘Recession’ being talked about in homes across the UK it’s hard to forget that the offshoot of a global recession has implications for individual households. Interest rates are down, salaries are capped and in general there’s a need to budget about what we can spend our available money on. It’s all about saving, value and getting by on your money as best you can.
First to go are the luxuries – holidays, new cars, beauty treatments – even meals out. These once regular treats are being replaced with cost savings and ‘make do at home’ budgets instead.
